The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD seeks a Middle School Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate is a warm, creative, charismatic school counselor who loves working with middle school students and has expertise in helping early adolescents navigate their middle school years, working as part of a collaborative counseling department alongside Middle School Administration.
Responsibilities: • Provide short-term individual counseling covering scheduling, social/emotional support, study skills guidance, and co-curricular coordination • Serve as case manager for students on their caseload, interfacing with families, teachers, learning specialists, ESOL specialists, outside professionals, and administration • Complete student observations, interpret behavioral data, and develop functional behavior analyses and behavior intervention plans • Develop, lead, and implement social-emotional, health, and wellness curricula, and help integrate them across content areas • Coach faculty, students, and families in using the Collaborative Problem Solving protocol • Welcome and assist new students and families, and attend grade-level and learning-specialist meetings
Qualifications: • M.Ed. in School Counseling or an MSW required • 3-5 years of related professional experience in an elementary and/or middle school setting • Strong interpersonal, technology, and organizational skills • Experience with Veracross and Schoology preferred; training in Collaborative Problem Solving preferred • Knowledge of Jewish values and traditions a plus, but not required • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
Salary: $63,494 - $114,762 per year
