The Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor is seeking a creative, dynamic collaborator to join its team as Community Relations Manager. The mission of the Federation is to unite and strengthen the Jewish community to shape a vibrant, resilient future. The greater Ann Arbor Jewish community numbers about 20,000 people across roughly 11,000 households; the most recent annual campaign raised $1.8 million and the community endowment stands at just over $14 million.
Reporting to the Community Relations Director and working closely with volunteer leadership, this role focuses on addressing the rise of antisemitism through community education, broad civic engagement and interaction with local educational institutions. The position is part of the Jewish Federations of North America's Frontline program and includes specialized training and cohort programming.
Responsibilities:
• Implement programming that educates the Jewish and broader community to confront antisemitism, and support crisis management and prevention • Develop relationships with local mayors, city council members and county officials, and deepen ties with state and national representatives • Serve as liaison to local Hillels, Jewish faculty/staff groups and university leadership on campus issues • Work with school districts, superintendents, administrators and school boards to support Jewish students and families • Grow interfaith coalitions including the Black/Jewish Solidarity Coalition, Chaldean/Jewish Coalition and Hindu/Jewish relationships • Coordinate Jewish Community Relations Committee (JCRC) meetings and support JCRC volunteers • Participate in the Annual Community Campaign, including donor conversations
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's in social work, public policy, Jewish studies or a related field preferred • Minimum one to three years of relevant experience in community outreach, public policy, government affairs or Israel advocacy • Significant knowledge of the Jewish community and a broad understanding of Jewish- and Israel-related issues • Familiarity with Washtenaw County's non-profit, political, faith and civic landscape a plus • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills • Computer/IT proficiency including Microsoft Office and social media; Adobe, Canva or HTML a plus • Availability for evening and Sunday meetings and programs; access to reliable transportation
Salary:
$65,000-$75,000
Schedule:
Full-time. In person at the Federation office at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Ann Arbor on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; remote work is an option Wednesdays and Fridays.
