The Senior Director of Communications develops and executes JEWISHcolorado's comprehensive communications strategy, serving as the organization's chief storyteller and leading executive communications, brand messaging, content strategy, media relations and organizational communications. Reporting to the CEO, this senior leadership role leads a collaborative team including the Director of Marketing, Content Strategist, Web Manager and freelance writers, designers, photographers and videographers.
Responsibilities:
• Lead organizational storytelling that supports fundraising, community engagement, advocacy and brand awareness • Oversee all external written communications, including newsletters, the Annual Report, campaign and donor communications, website copy and press releases • Serve as final approval authority for external communications and maintain brand and editorial standards • Act as the primary communications advisor and writer for the President & CEO, drafting speeches, op-eds, talking points and board communications • Lead communications strategy and scripting for major events, including the Annual Meeting, fundraising events and awards ceremonies • Supervise and mentor communications staff and manage outside consultants • Assist executive leadership with crisis and sensitive communications planning
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English or a related field required; Master's preferred • Minimum 8-10 years of progressively responsible communications leadership experience • Demonstrated success managing communications teams and writing for executives • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling abilities; strong editorial judgment • Experience producing major events, speeches and presentations • Nonprofit, philanthropy, higher education or mission-driven experience preferred; knowledge of the Jewish community strongly preferred
Salary:
$127,000-$142,000 per year
Position Type:
37.5 hours per week, in-person 4 days each week, exempt
