Job Description

The Youth Care Worker is a non-exempt position responsible for the well-being and safety of children at the Unaccompanied Children Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain awareness of children's whereabouts and complete wellness and accountability reports, conducting 30-minute, 15-minute, or 1:1 checks as required
  • Serve as a supportive and positive role model for the social and personal development of all children
  • Observe and assist children at meals and snack times, especially those with dietary restrictions
  • Keep the Shift Lead informed of changes in children's appearance or behavior, supply needs, and any areas of concern
  • Assist with daily living activities, doctor appointments, outings, and case management, and transport clients as needed
  • Respond to emergencies and provide crisis intervention
  • Maintain the required staff/client ratio in accordance with ORR regulations and document children's behavior and interactions

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $19.00 per hour, plus $0.50/hour for 2nd shift and $1.00/hour for overnight and weekend hours

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of direct care experience working with children
  • Experience in a residential or mental health treatment setting preferred
  • Bilingual skills required in clients' spoken languages (Haitian Creole and/or French)
  • Proof of immunization for Varicella, MMR, Influenza, and Tdap
  • Valid driver's license with auto insurance coverage
