The Ark, Chicago's safety net for the Jewish community and anyone in need, is hiring a PRN (per diem) Pharmacist for its small, community-focused pharmacy. You'll cover vacations, illness and other scheduling gaps, dispensing medications and counseling clients who could not otherwise afford them. You'll report to the Director of Pharmacy and work alongside The Ark's medical providers and client services team.
Responsibilities: • Dispense prescriptions accurately according to provider orders and pharmacy standards • Review prescriptions for appropriateness, dosing, interactions and contraindications, and clarify orders with prescribers • Make sure medications are labeled, stored and handled properly • Counsel clients in plain language on how to take their medications, side effects and interactions • Communicate with patience and cultural sensitivity, including with clients facing medical and mental health challenges • Keep accurate records and comply with HIPAA and Illinois pharmacy regulations
Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy • Active Illinois pharmacist license in good standing • Dispensing experience in a retail, community or clinical pharmacy • Experience with Liberty pharmacy software is a plus • Dependable, patient-centered, and appreciative of Jewish values
Pay: $50/hour
Schedule: As-needed coverage, scheduled in advance when possible, with occasional short-notice requests. There are no minimum or guaranteed hours, so it can work alongside another position. Paid leave accrues under the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act.
