Established in 1924, the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts (JFWM) strengthens Jewish life in the Pioneer Valley, Israel, and around the world while caring for Jews in need. Its Annual Campaign raises approximately $800,000 each year, and its planned giving arm, the Jewish Endowment Foundation, manages more than $60 million in charitable assets.
Located in Springfield, Massachusetts, JFWM serves a region with multiple synagogues, day schools, an active JCC, the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, and renowned colleges including Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, and UMass Amherst.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will lead JFWM's financial resource development efforts, supervise the professional team, and serve as a collaborative and visible community leader strengthening partnerships with local organizations, schools, and synagogues.
Responsibilities: • Provide strategic leadership to the Board, staff, and broader community, advancing a clear vision for JFWM as a central convener and leader • Recruit, lead, develop, and evaluate a high-performing professional and lay team through strong supervision, coaching, and mentorship • Lead the fundraising strategy, strengthening donor engagement and growing both the annual campaign and the overall donor base • Personally cultivate major donors and solicit leadership gifts for the annual campaign, designated initiatives, and endowment • Serve as chief ambassador and spokesperson with community partners, funders, and local, national, and international stakeholders • Develop and execute strategies to engage, cultivate, and sustain a strong pipeline of lay leadership, and serve as a trusted advisor to the Board • Provide sound fiscal leadership and fiduciary oversight, and lead development of the annual budget
Qualifications: • Senior-level strategic leadership, development, and management experience in Jewish Federations, other Jewish communal organizations, business, or the nonprofit sector • Proven success leading an organization of comparable size or complexity • Significant experience in total financial resource development oversight across campaigns and giving levels • Ability to personally cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors • Excellent interpersonal, diplomacy, and organizational skills, and outstanding written and verbal communication • Knowledge of Jewish customs, traditions, and values, and willingness to be a strong advocate for Israel
Salary: $180,000-$210,000.
