Job Description

The St. Louis Jewish Community Center (the J) has been providing health and cultural experiences for the entire community for over 140 years. The J is looking for instructors to teach evening group exercise classes such as High Intensity Interval Training, Strength and Conditioning, Tabata, Cardio Kickboxing, and TRX.

This is a part-time position at the Chesterfield Gym and Fitness Center and is eligible for a complimentary fitness membership.

Responsibilities: • Develop and administer safe, engaging, and effective group exercise programs approved by the J or a recognized national fitness certification agency • Alter programs as needed to meet the needs and safety concerns of patrons, and correct ineffective or incorrect techniques • Promote group exercise, personal training, fitness, and aquatics programs, and share current fitness specials with members • Be punctual and prepared to start classes on time, and serve as a role model and leader to patrons • Help maintain a neat, organized, and clean group exercise studio and report equipment in need of repair • Attend all mandatory meetings and in-house training, and continue developing knowledge in health and fitness

Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED required • Current nationally recognized certification for the format you are applying to teach • Current CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certification; training provided if necessary • Six months of prior teaching experience preferred • Must be physically able to teach classes, demonstrating techniques and leading the group through the program • Strong listening and oral communication skills and demonstrated leadership in an outgoing, professional manner • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to learn new software programs
