We are a private TK-8 school feeding 100-200 students weekday lunch. You are a Dish/Prep Cook who can support daily food prep and kitchen operations. This role involves chopping, light cooking, dish washing, and kitchen cleanliness, working closely with the lead cook to ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Pay: $19-23/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11am-2pm, following the school calendar. One to two evening shifts each month.
Responsibilities: • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils; keep the dish station organized and running smoothly • Wash, peel, chop, and prepare fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients according to instructions • Follow recipes and assist with cooking tasks (sautéing, boiling, assembling dishes) under supervision • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas • Follow food safety and hygiene standards including handwashing, proper food storage and allergen awareness • Help receive, unpack, and store food deliveries
Qualifications: • Previous kitchen, food service, or dish washing experience preferred but not required • Comfortable using kitchen tools (knives, cutting boards, cooking equipment) safely • Able to follow instructions and work well as part of a small team • Punctual, dependable, and able to stay on your feet for extended periods • Food handler's certification (or willingness to obtain one) may be required • Must pass a background check, as required for school employment • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work near hot surfaces
