American Jewish University (AJU) — focused on the future of Jewish life in North America, training the next generation of rabbis, educators, professionals, and lay leaders — seeks a highly organized, proactive, donor-centric Director of Advancement Events. Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, this role develops and executes a comprehensive portfolio of fundraising, donor cultivation, and stewardship events that deepen engagement and inspire philanthropy.
Responsibilities: • Manage a portfolio of fundraising events, donor gatherings, leadership receptions, campaign events, and institutional programs from concept through post-event follow-up • Oversee venue selection, logistics, registration, production, catering, A/V, décor, security, and onsite management • Manage vendors and consultants, negotiate contracts, and oversee event collateral in partnership with Communications • Develop, monitor, and reconcile event budgets; process contracts, invoices, purchase orders, and vendor payments • Prepare post-event reports analyzing fundraising results, expenses, and recommendations • Collaborate with Advancement colleagues on sponsorship opportunities, donor recognition, and stewardship experiences
Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience • 5–7 years of progressively responsible nonprofit experience with demonstrated success managing fundraising events • Strong project management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail • Experience developing and managing event budgets • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor database/CRM systems • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required for fundraising events • Knowledge of the Jewish community, Jewish nonprofit sector, or Jewish philanthropic landscape strongly preferred
Salary: $100,000–$120,000 annually, commensurate with experience. 35 hours/week; 4 days per week in person in Sherman Oaks with Friday remote. Benefits may include health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan participation, and paid time off.
