Lander-Grinspoon Academy, a private K-6 Jewish day school in Northampton, MA, is seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly motivated part-time Physical Education Teacher to work with students in grades K–6. This is a great opportunity for a current graduate student, someone interested in exploring teaching in a school setting, or a recently retired teacher who isn't quite ready to leave it all behind.
The school sees physical education as an essential part of educating the whole child, supporting resilience, cooperation, self-awareness, and responsible citizenship.
Qualifications:
• An experienced and enthusiastic educator who values movement, wellness, and social-emotional growth • Excited to contribute to school-wide initiatives including social justice education, the on-site working farm, and creative arts • Works well as part of a collaborative team, partnering closely with classroom teachers and communicating openly with families • Equally committed to fostering physical skills, teamwork, and healthy habits and to nurturing students' social and emotional well-being • Comfortable teaching PE outdoors when weather permits and in the multi-purpose room the rest of the year • Committed to teaching PE in a non-competitive environment
Salary: $6,500 - $7,500 per year, commensurate with experience.
Schedule: Just 4 hours of teaching each week. You choose to hold PE on either Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
Note: Most of the school's staff have been working together for over 12 years.
